World Environment Day is held each year on June 5. It is one of the principal vehicles through which United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

World Environment Day is celebrated in different way in different country's. Activities include street rallies and parades, as well as concerts, tree planting, and clean up campaigns. In many countries, this annual event is used to enhance political attention towards improving the environment. This observance also provides an opportunity to sign or ratify international environmental conventions. 

The world seems to be waking up to the issue of climate change and just how precarious the situation of the environment is. The condition of the environment hangs in the balance and it is the choices that we make that can make such a huge difference. Days like World Environment Day help bring these issues to the consciousness of people all around the world.

Since its inception in 1974, World Environment Day has developed into a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on increasingly urgent issues, from marine pollution and global warming to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. Millions of people around the world have been motivated to take action and now World Environment celebrated in over the 100 countries.
